Just Transition | Emilia-Romagna

The Emilia-Romagna Region wants to improve air quality for its 4.5 million citizens, as 20% of its population is currently exposed to exceeding limits for air pollutants. The Region is already implementing a set of 94 integrated actions within its Integrated Regional Air Plan and leveraging on this, ART-ER will work together with the Region in the “Just transition - Emilia-Romagna” co-design process in order to elaborate a roadmap of innovative experiments to reduce the health impacts of air quality by developing integrated abatement strategies for air pollutants and GHG emissions.
This will be a shared learning journey with the C-KIC community and with the frontrunning European initiatives from which we can get inspired. The neighboring Italian regions will also be involved in the shaping of the actions since air quality is not a local issue.
We will mobilize citizens, the not-for-profit, business and research sector as well as regional agencies, municipalities and other key stakeholders to imagine new collective and systemic actions that will accelerate the transition towards a decarbonized and healthier Emilia-Romagna.
